October 10, 2010: Equality Across America (EAA), takes a moment on the anniversary of the National Equality March to recognize the 250,000 activists who organized themselves to participate in the historic National Equality March that was fueled by the grassroots and the countless activists who have been inspired to take action for full federal equality since then.
While mainstream organizations project that our window of opportunity for full federal equality is closing with the upcoming elections, EAA remains committed to the grassroots voice that is putting forward a vision of what full federal equality looks like. Whether it is the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell and the Defense of Marriage Act, or an all-inclusive Employment Non-Discrimination Act, the majority of the population is on our side. There has never been a better time to put forward the vision of what equality looks like whether it is the Uniting American Families Act, the National Safe Schools Improvement Act, the American Equality Bill or ongoing efforts to ensure that LGBT people are afforded equal access and protections under the law.
EAA aims to continue to initiate calls to
action and connect existing and newly forming grassroots groups across
the country. Because lesbians, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, queer identifying and intesrsex (LGBTQI) people come from all racial, ethnic,
national, class and other backgrounds, we believe that winning full
equality is inconceivable without building solidarity with all
groups—regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We
encourage all grassroots activist groups that support full LGBTQI
equality to affiliate with EAA. In unity there is strength!
